How to use the CSV to Excel (XLSX) Converter

  1. Paste CSV or TSV data, or open a .csv/.tsv file. The delimiter is detected automatically.
  2. Check the preview: detected numbers and booleans are right-aligned. Values such as 01234 stay text.
  3. Choose a sheet and file name, then click Download .xlsx.

Privacy and limitations

  • Your data is processed on your device and is not uploaded to any server.
  • Creates a single sheet with no formatting, column widths or formulas.
  • Dates are written as text; use Excel’s Text to Columns or a number format to convert them.
  • Files up to 25 MB; Excel itself limits a sheet to 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns.

Frequently asked questions

Why are ZIP codes and IDs with leading zeros kept as text?

Turning 01234 into the number 1234 would lose data, so values with leading zeros, a leading +, thousands separators or more than 15 digits are written as text cells. Turn off type detection to write every value as text.

Can a cell starting with = run a formula?

No. Every text value is written as a plain text cell, so formulas in the CSV are not evaluated when the workbook is opened.
